The M5 MacBook Pro looks identical to the M4 model from the outside. Inside, Apple has bumped the CPU by roughly 12% and the GPU by 18% — meaningful for sustained workloads, less so for everyday use.

Battery life

Battery life is the headline. In our standard 200-nit looping video test, the 14-inch model hit 24 hours. That's an extra two hours over the M4.

Should you upgrade?

If you're on an M3 or newer, no. If you're still rocking an Intel-era MacBook Pro, this is the easiest recommendation we've made all year.
