Five products could surprise us at WWDC 26

WWDC kicks off on June 8, and everything we know points to a software show. iOS 27, a rebuilt Siri, and AI features across all of Apple's platforms are the headliners. But Apple loves a "one more thing," and there are a handful of products sitting close enough to launch that I keep wondering whether any of them might sneak onto the stage. Here are the five with the best shot, and why I'm cautiously optimistic about a couple of them.

The M5 Mac Studio and Mac mini
If there's one category developers would actually cheer for at a developer conference, it's a new Mac. M5 versions of the Mac Studio and Mac mini were originally expected to arrive around the middle of the year, which put a WWDC reveal squarely in play. These are exactly the kind of machines the WWDC crowd buys, so the timing always felt right.
Here's the thing, though: both products are reportedly dealing with supply shortages right now, with many current models heavily backordered. That makes a fresh M5 launch feel like a stretch. The optimistic read is that the constraints might only be hitting today's models, and that Apple reserved capacity long ago for the M5 refresh it had already planned. If that's true, new machines could still show up soon. I wouldn't bank on June 8, but I'd love to see it.

A new Apple TV 4K
This is where things get interesting. Reports suggest Apple has been sitting on a group of new Home products that are essentially ready to ship, waiting on one thing: the new Siri. A refreshed Apple TV 4K is at the top of that list.
The logic for a WWDC appearance actually holds together. Apple is going to spend a chunk of the keynote walking through Siri's new capabilities, and a new Apple TV would give the tvOS 27 segment something tangible to stand on. Without new hardware, that part of the show could be very short.

A new HomePod
The full size HomePod is reportedly part of that same ready and waiting batch. A HomePod 3 alongside a new Apple TV would make for a tidy little Home hardware moment, and it would let Apple frame the pitch the way it likes to: here are these great new products today, and this fall they'll get the new Siri too.
I'll be honest, I'm not counting on this. Apple tends to hold these things until the software is genuinely shipping to everyone, and the new Siri isn't expected to reach all users until the fall. But the pieces are in place, which is more than you can usually say.

A new HomePod mini
Rounding out the Home group is a second generation HomePod mini, which has been rumored to bring bigger upgrades than people first assumed. If Apple does decide to surprise us with Home hardware at WWDC, it makes sense that the mini rides along with the Apple TV and the full size HomePod as a set rather than trickling out one at a time.

The one product I'd take off the table is the so called HomePad, Apple's rumored smart display. Reports point to that one arriving this fall, lined up with iOS 27 and the new Siri actually shipping, so I wouldn't expect to see it next month.
So will any of this actually happen?
WWDC is still shaping up to be a software event, and the smart money says the hardware stays in the back for now. But the Home products are the wild card. They're reportedly built, boxed, and waiting, and a keynote devoted to showing off Siri is exactly the kind of stage where Apple could decide to give them a moment.
What do you think? Are you expecting any new hardware on June 8, or is this a pure software year? Let me know.
