iOS 27 Rumored to Bring Longer Battery Life
Apple's iOS 27 update is expected to deliver longer battery life, a redesigned notification animation, and a handful of smaller app changes

Apple's iOS 27 update is expected to deliver longer battery life, a redesigned notification animation, and a handful of smaller app changes, according to a new Bloomberg report from Mark Gurman published ahead of Monday's WWDC 2026 keynote.
Longer Battery Life
iOS 27 is rumored to focus on bug fixes and performance improvements, and Gurman said that work should translate into longer battery life on the iPhone.
In line with his previous reporting, Gurman said Apple is "making performance improvements aimed at extending the battery life of the iPhone." However, he said it is unclear whether Apple will quantify how much longer devices will last, so it remains to be seen if the company highlights the gains during its keynote.
The claim fits with earlier reports that iOS 27 will be a Snow Leopard style release, prioritizing stability and refinement over a long list of headline features.
Notifications Move to the Left
Gurman also revealed a change to how notifications behave. Instead of sliding in from the top of the screen, notifications on iOS 27 will reportedly slide in from the left side.
The new animation is said to align with a revised gesture system. Accessing Notification Center will require swiping down from the top left corner of the screen. Swiping down from the Dynamic Island area will instead open a new "Search or Ask" interface tied to the revamped Siri that leaked last month.
It is not yet clear whether the change will apply to every device. The "Search or Ask" panel may be limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and newer if it ends up requiring an iPhone model with Apple Intelligence.
Photos and Find My Changes
Beyond the system level tweaks, the report points to several app specific updates.
The Find My app is said to be getting a subtle visual refresh, including new icons in the navigation tab bar. In the Photos app, the Clean Up feature is reportedly receiving significant improvements during the iOS 27 cycle.
Apple is also said to be testing natural language, prompt based photo editing that would let users ask via voice or text for specific edits, such as cropping an image or changing its colors. According to the report, that feature may not arrive in the first version of iOS 27.
Much of the rest of iOS 27 is expected to center on Siri and Apple Intelligence, which are anticipated to be the main focus of this year's update.
Release Timeline
Apple is set to unveil iOS 27 during its WWDC 2026 keynote on Monday, June 8. The first developer beta should be available the same day, with a public beta typically following in July. The update is expected to see a wide release in September.
