Here's the deal: the AirPods Pro 3 are down to $179 on Amazon right now, which is $70 off the $249 list price and the lowest these have ever been.
Price trackers back it up, so this isn't a fake "was" number dressed up to look like a sale.
Amazon matched Walmart to get here, and the timing lines up with Father's Day and the run up to Prime Day, which is usually when Apple lets partners move inventory.
I've been recommending these to anyone on an iPhone since they came out, mostly at full price with a slight wince.

The specs that actually matter
These are Apple's flagship earbuds, and the Pro 3 earned that spot. The big one is noise cancellation, Apple says it's roughly twice as strong as the AirPods Pro 2 and four times the original Pro, and in practice it's the most outside noise I've had an in ear pair shut out. On a plane or a loud train, it's a real difference, not a spec sheet difference.
Battery is up to 8 hours of listening with ANC on, a jump from 6 on the Pro 2, with the case bringing you to 24 hours total. Five minutes in the case buys you about an hour of playback, which has saved me more than once on the way out the door.
The rest of the upgrades are the kind you feel day to day:
- A built in heart rate sensor that tracks workouts and logs to the Fitness app, no Apple Watch required.
- IP57 sweat and water resistance, a step up from IP54, so they shrug off rain and gym sessions.
- A reengineered fit with foam infused tips and five tip sizes now, including a new XXS. If the Pro 2 ever felt loose in your ears, these hug a lot better.
- Live Translation, which pipes real time translation through your iPhone using Apple Intelligence.
- USB-C and MagSafe charging, plus wireless on a Qi pad.
Charging is over USB-C, and the case is MagSafe and Qi friendly.
Who these are for
If you're on an iPhone and you want the best earbuds that just work across all your Apple stuff, this is the easy answer.
Pairing is instant, they hand off between your devices, and the ANC and sound are genuinely top tier. For commuters, travelers, and anyone who works in noise, the noise cancellation alone is worth the upgrade.
The heart rate sensor is a nice bonus if you work out without a watch, though if you already wear an Apple Watch you'll probably keep tracking with that.
Bottom line
This is worth it if you're coming from older AirPods, the AirPods Pro 2 you've been meaning to replace, or any non Apple buds and you live in the iPhone world.
