MacBook Air M5 hits a new low at Amazon, starting at $949
If you've been holding out on picking up Apple's newest MacBook Air, this is probably the moment.

If you've been holding out on picking up Apple's newest MacBook Air, this is probably the moment. Amazon currently has the entire 2026 M5 MacBook Air lineup marked down by $150, with the entry 13 inch model dropping to a record low $949.
Here's the deal: the base 13 inch M5 MacBook Air normally runs $1,099, so $949 is a clean $150 off. That gets you the M5 chip, 16GB of unified memory, 512GB of storage, and your pick of all four colors (Midnight, Sky Blue, Starlight, and Silver). For a brand new current generation Mac, that's a price I'd have called wishful thinking a couple months ago.
What you're getting
The M5 MacBook Air is the same chassis Apple has been refining for a few years now, but the M5 chip is a real step up. You're looking at a 10 core CPU with four performance cores and six efficiency cores, plus an 8 core GPU on the base model. For most people (writers, students, anyone who lives in a browser and a couple of creative apps), this is genuinely more machine than you need, which is exactly the point of the Air.

The full lineup at $150 off
If 512GB feels tight or you want the 15 inch screen, the rest of the lineup is on sale too:
- 13 inch M5 MacBook Air, 16GB/1TB: $1,149 (regularly $1,299)
- 13 inch M5 MacBook Air, 24GB/1TB: $1,349 (regularly $1,499)
- 15 inch M5 MacBook Air, 16GB/512GB: $1,149 (regularly $1,299)
- 15 inch M5 MacBook Air, 16GB/1TB: $1,349 (regularly $1,499)
- 15 inch M5 MacBook Air, 24GB/1TB: $1,549 (regularly $1,699)

Should you wait?
Honestly, $150 off is about as good as the M4 generation ever got at Amazon outside of Prime Day, so I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for $200 off until July at the earliest. If you need a Mac now and the base config fits, just go. If you can wait until summer, you might shave another fifty bucks off, but you'll also be staring at a laptop you could already be using.
I'm calling this one a buy.
